Artist's Description
The sky burns with golden hues as the sun slips behind the rolling hills at Inks Lake State Park, reflecting warm tones across the calm water. Framed by tall shoreline grasses swaying in the breeze, this scene captures the quiet magic of twilight in the Texas Hill Country.
Inks Lake is more than just a beautiful view — it’s a destination for families, campers, paddlers, and hikers seeking year-round outdoor recreation. The park offers canoe and kayak rentals, scenic trails with granite outcrops, shaded campsites, and favorite swimming spots like Devil’s Waterhole. As the light fades, nature slows down, inviting peaceful reflection and a deeper connection with the land.
This image is part of my Texas State Parks photo collection — a tribute to the places that hold our most meaningful memories.

About Brigitte Blanchette Thompson

Discover the Beauty of Texas and Beyond. My name is Bigitte Blanchette Thompson, a freelance photographer based in Austin, Texas, specializing in landscape, nature, and outdoor photography. My passion for photography was shaped by years of hiking and exploring over 21 Texas state parks with my daughter and 85-year-old mother. These shared adventures through the Texas Hill Country have taught me to slow down, see deeper, and capture the moments that connect us to nature and each other. While much of my work features the beauty of Texas, I also photograph landscapes, cityscapes, and cultural scenes from across the U.S. and abroad. My portfolio includes photography from Germany, Mexico, Wisconsin, Michigan, Florida, Arizona, New Mexico,...

What a beauiful example of heavens on fire! Over the years, I have read hundreds upon hundreds of biographies. Quite honestly, non has touched my heart or pulled on the strings of my heart as profoundly as yours have. It was sheer delight to read it because I can relate to it at the most visceral level. I have alluded to that in my bio. You see beauty in so many things because you're blessed with beauty in your soul. I have a feeling you agree that the world is precisely a reflection of who or what we are inside. That's why Henry David Thoreau wrote, "It's not what you look at that matters. It's what you see." We all look at the world with our eyes but see it with our souls or minds. That's why Mark Twain wrote, "Your eyes are useless when your mind is blind." I'll be back to read your lovely bio again 'n again.
