Winding through the iconic Lost Pines of Bastrop State Park, this peaceful trail invites you to experience a rare forest ecosystem that exists hundreds of miles west of its closest relatives in East Texas. Bastrop’s forest has stood for centuries, shaped by natural forces and human history—and forever marked by the devastating wildfire of 2011 that burned over 96% of the park.

Yet, here it stands—regrowing, thriving, and healing. You can see new life rising beside scorched trunks, a living testament to the park’s resilience. Once established in the 1930s by the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC), Bastrop State Park is one of Texas's most historically significant parks. The CCC’s original stone buildings and trails still greet visitors today, adding a sense of heritage to each step.
