Tucked beneath the towering granite dome of Enchanted Rock State Natural Area, this serene pond reflects a quieter side of the rugged Hill Country landscape. Surrounded by native grasses, brush, and shady oaks, the still water offers a peaceful contrast to the dramatic summit views nearby. The wooden boardwalk provides an accessible path for hikers and nature lovers to pause and take in the beauty of the park’s more subtle ecosystems.
This pond plays an important ecological role, providing water and shelter for wildlife, including birds, amphibians, insects, and reptiles. Aquatic plants add oxygen to the water while grasses along the shoreline prevent erosion and offer cover for nesting creatures. Even in drier seasons, this hidden spot continues to support life in unexpected ways.
