A peaceful spring scene captured in Lost Maples State Natural Area, nestled in the heart of the Texas Hill Country near Vanderpool. This quiet pond, framed by newly budding trees, earthy limestone cliffs, and rolling green hills, reflects the quiet magic of early spring in Texas. Gentle ripples move across the surface, echoing the stillness, renewal, and untouched beauty of the landscape.
My story behind this photo: It was taken during a camping trip with my daughter and my 85-year-old mother. We hiked the East-West Trail, which took us nearly seven hours to complete. Along the way, we shared a quiet lunch by this very spring-fed pond, surrounded by the rugged yet serene landscape of the Texas Hill Country. The trail led us past bubbling natural springs, towering majestic oak trees, and mysterious limestone caves as we navigated a steep, rocky canyon that tested our stamina—but my mother pushed through with determination and grit.
